Ronald Falck is a journeyman artist presently working at Castle Howard, York, and took a sabbatical month to study the New York Boxing scene in June 2007.
He visited the famous Gleason's Gym in Brooklyn and also the Trinity Boxing Gym in South Manhattan, making studies of the up and coming boxers. Gleason's is the gym where Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier and Mike Tyson had trained in the past. Falck also made ringside studies as paintings at Madison Square Garden, particularly during the Coto v Judah welterweight championship contest.
The paintings, drawings and etchings were exhibited in an exhibition at The School of Visual Arts, Manhattan, New York at the end of June 2007. |
