In June 2007 Ronald Falck made a sabbatical month's study of New York's boxing scene. He made studies at the famous Gleason's gym, in Brooklyn, where boxers such as Ali, Frazier and Tyson have trained. He also visited Trinity Gym in Greenwich Street, Sth.Manhattan. He made studies of the modern-day boxers working out at the Gyms. Also during this month he went to all the fights in N.Y. including the Welterweight contest: Coto v Judah at Madison Square Garden where 22,000 people attended. “The atmosphere was electric”.
Over the monthly period he made twenty ringside paintings and some drawings, and later transposed these into etchings. These original paintings on canvas measure 8”x 8” and are priced at £80 each, unframed and signed. They can be purchased as a collection or as individuals. They are a fine modern collection portraying boxers in situations of action, or at moments in time of reflection, drama, exhaustion, courage, victory and defeat.

Falck quotes, “They are studies which present boxing - canvas to canvas” adding, “boxing is considered too violent for some people, but I happen to believe that boxing is an artistic as well as a physical endeavour. I also feel that it is the artistry and heritage which sets it apart from mixed martial arts. When boxing is at its best, there is nothing quite like it. I feel that I have captured something unique with my studies, which have been made from live experience”.
